Victory

I had a non-scale victory last night.....since my husband has been away this week I am having some stressful moments. I don't know how single parents cope.

Anyway, after a long day of moody children I had them all tucked in to bed (except the baby) and sat down to try and find something to watch on television. Suddenly I was thinking about all the 'good tasting' food {read junk food} that was in the house. It has now been 3 and a half weeks since I had put a morsel of this kind of food into my body. Where were these thoughts coming from and what good would this mindless eating accomplish???? Eating this stuff would not remove the stressful day that just ended and it only would create the old familiar feelings of guilt. So I worked through the temptation and conquered! Instead of the cinnamon rolls, chips, chocolate kisses and sugar cereal that seemed to be calling my name I went for a tall glass of cold water and fat free microwave popcorn. I felt great when I layed my head down to sleep!

This morning to eat.....a pancake with oatmeal and flax seed mixed in the batter, 1 tbsp. of organic peanut butter, 2 tbsp. maple syrup (the real stuff) and lots of blueberries and strawberries. It was so good!

After breakfast I did some cleaning and then did the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD workout with the children. This was FUN and good for everyone!

Enjoying the day.....my husband comes home this afternoon! I must go and get the laundry started....with eight people in the family this is a job that NEVER ends.

Blessings to you all!

  1. You are my hero for the day :)

I don't know how single moms do it either. Everytime my husband is out of town my kids forget rules apparently!!

Have fun with all that laundry....ugh...

  2. Awesome job! Nothing better than knowing you did the right thing even when things are tough!

I can't even imagine that much laundry. Four people here is about 6 baskets a week!

  3. It is a beautiful thing when your kids are teens and (supposedly) do their own laundry. Congrats on the victory!
