Slow but sure it is coming off!
I was down 2 lbs today for a total of 15lbs in six weeks.
I should be in my cute shorts and shirts by summer at this rate. I am really excited at this thought, I am tired of wearing clothes that disguise my body....You know over sized shirts and shorts to the knee!!!

New Career?
I changed the look of my blog as you can see....do you like it?
This has been a very interesting week.....
I have been a stay at home mom for the last 7 years by choice. This past July my husband became unemployed. So recently we have been discussing options. Our small town has limited places for him to get work and he has no 'papers' only experience so the chances of him finding something are slim. On the other hand I could go back to work in my career as a Developmental Services Worker and I would love that but my dream for the last 3-4 years has been to be a birthing attendant/Douala. I am taking sometime to look into this career to try and figure out if we could make it financially if I do this; we have some time before any decision has to be made. The other big thing is I am not willing to give up Homeschooling so I need to make sure we can flex everything so nothing is sacrificed.
As a part of my exploration I am helping teach a Labour and Birthing Course this week. I am loving it!
On the health side of my life....on Tuesday I made Potato Pancakes for the family, this was first time I had ever made them but my husband really wanted them so I obliged and decided I would try them too for lunch. BIG mistake!!! I have not eaten white flour in over a month and within 1 hour of having these I was doubled over in pain. The pain didn't let up until near 7pm that night. I couldn't eat or drink anything. Once the pain let up I had a Chamomile Tea for supper.
I also bought on E-bay the 30 Day Shred, I have not got it yet but I am looking forward to getting started when it does arrive. Have any of you done this workout series? I would love to hear from you if you have.

Week Five Weigh In
I was down today!
I weighed in at 196 lbs so that is a loss of 1.8 lbs this week and a 13 lbs total since Dec. 27th when I started this journey in healthy living.
I have earned my first reward for 12lbs lost and I am going to order new pajama's from Sears.
Quick side note about a couple of things;
I had to drop out of the challenge I mention in an earlier post about 30 push ups and 30 sit ups daily because I did something to my neck this week.
Also the baby slept 2 six hour stretches again last night and I had almost 2,000 calories yesterday. So it is looking like my husband was right.
Hope everyone has a good day and I am off to the Sears online site to order me some p.j.'s.

Supply issues
This is a strange kind of post but here it goes.
On Thursday evening my husband says to me that he thinks I am not eating enough! Really! This has never been an issue in my life so these words were a bit of a shock. So I decide to hear him out on this topic. His point was the baby, who is now 2 and a half months old, up until about 10 days ago had been sleeping really well at night. She was going about 6 hours between feedings. For the last 10 days or so she was waking up at about the 2-4 hour intervals to nurse.
Now... I know that restricting calories can effect one's milk supply but since I have alot of fat reserve I figured that this would make up for the calories I was not eating. I checked back on my food journal and I was averaging 1,000 to 1,300 calories daily. After a bit of research online I found out that I really should not be eating less than 1,800 calories and should be aiming for more like 2,000 until she is older and having some solids.
So I put this 'theory' to the test yesterday.....I consumed 1,976 calories yesterday. What did the baby do for sleeping last night????? She slept 2 six hour stretches!!!!!!
Was my husband right?!?!?!? I guess time will tell....I will continue to eat between 1,800 and 2,000 calories for the time being unless baby shows me that it isn't my calories that is effecting her sleep patterns.
Will I lose weight by eating this amount of calories? I hope so!

Supper
I just had the greatest supper!
I made homemade 'Sweet Potato Fries' for the first time ever and I think I just found me new weakness.
I had with these fries some homemade 'Vegan Chili' that I made last week. Thank you to The Clean Eating Mama's blog for the chili recipe.
I had to share with you about my scrumptious supper.

Week Four Weigh In
Quick post this morning.....results from the scale.....down 2lbs. Weighing in at 197.8lbs today. I have .8 of a pound to go until I get my first reward, a new pair of pajama's.
I should be able to do that this week.
The next 30 days I have the challenge with some other mom's to do 30 crunches and 30 push ups daily....I will let you know how it is going. I think my muscles hurt already!
Have a great day all!

Victory
I had a non-scale victory last night.....since my husband has been away this week I am having some stressful moments. I don't know how single parents cope.
Anyway, after a long day of moody children I had them all tucked in to bed (except the baby) and sat down to try and find something to watch on television. Suddenly I was thinking about all the 'good tasting' food {read junk food} that was in the house. It has now been 3 and a half weeks since I had put a morsel of this kind of food into my body. Where were these thoughts coming from and what good would this mindless eating accomplish???? Eating this stuff would not remove the stressful day that just ended and it only would create the old familiar feelings of guilt. So I worked through the temptation and conquered! Instead of the cinnamon rolls, chips, chocolate kisses and sugar cereal that seemed to be calling my name I went for a tall glass of cold water and fat free microwave popcorn. I felt great when I layed my head down to sleep!
This morning to eat.....a pancake with oatmeal and flax seed mixed in the batter, 1 tbsp. of organic peanut butter, 2 tbsp. maple syrup (the real stuff) and lots of blueberries and strawberries. It was so good!
After breakfast I did some cleaning and then did the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD workout with the children. This was FUN and good for everyone!
Enjoying the day.....my husband comes home this afternoon! I must go and get the laundry started....with eight people in the family this is a job that NEVER ends.
Blessings to you all!
