Camp Day

I have the van packed and we are ready to go to camp!
It should bring with it a lot of physical activity and outside adventures, the camp is based in a hilly area and as camps go things are a bit of a distance apart. So there will be a lot of walking to and from activities. I am also planning on organizing a couple of ladies morning runs...just to keep me motivated!

Going to camp means I have no control over what food is being made or how it will be cooked but my plan is to eat portioned amounts of what ever is served and fill up as much as I can on the fruit and vegetable part of each meal. I have been to this camp before and they cook fabulous food with a dessert at both lunch and supper. Yikes!!!

Have a great week fellow bloggers! and see you next weekend!

Rummage Sale

Four times a year a church in our community holds a Rummage Sale.
Oh, how I love second hand clothes!

I came away with 4 t-shirts, 2 blouses, 1 Capri, 2 skirts, and 3 shorts all for $7.00.
The bottoms were size 10 & 12, the shirts were mediums and larges.

I also was able to buy a few bibs that were not stained like all of mine are, about 10 books for the children, a pair of shoes for one of my girls and a duffle bag..... all for another $4.50.

I love, love, love a bargain!

Going Natural

It has been a while since I posted, life got very busy!

I have spent the last three days going through the kitchen cupboards and removing anything processed. About two years ago I did the same thing and everyone in the family ate all foods that were organic and homemade ...then I broke my thumb and was not able to keep up with this lifestyle!

During the approximately 8 months that we did eat from the earth (so to speak) I seen such a change in my children; they were calm & attentive.

So what made me resume this lifestyle, I watched the movie Food Inc. and I am reading the book by Jillian Michael's Master Your Metabolism and the combination of these two lit the spark in both myself and my husband.

I am throwing out alot of food and giving away even more. My cupboards look bare right now until I go shopping and stock up on my healthy ingredients!

I feel better already just making the mental switch over.

This week will be spent getting ready for a week at family Bible Camp and then when we return I will be sourcing out places I can buy personal care & cleaning products that are chemical free...I am hoping to not have to make my own of these but that is always an option if I can't find what I am looking for. I have never taken a serious look at what goes into soaps, lotions and cleaning products even though I have known for some time that there are terrible things in them that cause all kinds of sickness and diseases. I will be checking this area out when we get back from camp and before school gets started for the season now though.

I was down 1 pound this week bring me to 154lbs and a grand total of 55lbs lost. I have not exercised a lot this week but I did get in a 6km run yesterday.
